Knitting: Sleeveless Top
I actually wrote this pattern years ago complete with a knitted sample, but it wasn’t quite right so I scrapped everything and tabled the idea. I resurrected it more recently and here it is, new and improved. My husband teases that I knit everything twice, because I never check gauge, but sometimes I write things twice, as well.
Knitting: Cape
I bought this yarn several years ago on a trip to Alaska because it was the same color as the Kenai River. I love the subtle variation in this hand dyed colorway and the yarn is exceptionally soft. I knew I wanted to design with it, but I had a terrible time coming up with a design that I felt would do the yarn justice. And so it sat unknitted.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
The inspiration for this piece is based on a stitch pattern I saw in a scarf for sale online. Like most of my ideas, the finished product is often a far cry from the initial vision. I tend to adjust as I go. I started knitting the sample for this while on a road trip to Arkansas…hence the name. The colors I chose also fit the Arkansas pallet th...
Knitting: Dress
This little dress was designed for a friend of mine. It is meant to be comfortable, lightweight, and easy going for a babe about her business. The yarn is an affordable, washable cotton/linen blend. Washable is good for young ones and the cotton/linen blend is good for all but the hottest days. My friend lives in Atlanta so I figure the dress c...
Knitting: Scarf
I am an amateur wine maker. My kitchen pays homage to all things “grapey” and “winey”. I have drawn grapes, beaded grapes, embroidered grapes….you get the point. I like grapes and I like wine. It stands to reason that I would want to capture the noble grape in yarn…my favorite medium. I thought long and hard about how I could create a scarf tha...
Knitting: Sleeveless Top
The origin of the Hurricane Tie Back Tunic was basically a couple skeins of yarn with no project and an interesting cable pattern. I was dying to use the cable pattern, which reminds me of the little hurricane symbols they use on weather maps. Being a native Floridian, hurricanes are a yearly source of stress and fascination. And don’t get me s...
Knitting: Baby Blanket
I know that’s quite a name…sometimes I just call it the Buford blanket. Buford is the name that I have given to my friend’s unborn baby, for whom I designed this blanket. By the time I put this pattern up, Buford will have been born and most likely he will have a name that has been chosen by his parents. My guess is that it probably won’t be Bu...
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
I made this hat as an answer to a very serious problem! I am forever worried about alien spacecraft sneaking up behind me. Now, with the “Eye on Top of My Head” hat, I can keep an eye on the skies overhead! Or I can just embarrass my kids. Both are really awesome options for the use of this hat.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque, Cowl
The yarn I selected for this project has randomly variegated shades of blue, gray and white. It also has a lovely, springy feel to it. The lace pattern I used makes me think of bare tree branches, or migrating geese! The scarf takes a while to knit due to the fingering weight yarn and little needles, but it’s fairly mindless once you get a feel...
Knitting: Scarf
Yup…He’s no longer confined to the yard! The feared and hated snake is here to warm your neck and proclaim your love of reptile kind to the world. This is a simple and quick pattern to knit, as long as you know how to cable. He is worked from the tail up on a garter stitch (get it?) background. The garter stitch allows the scarf to lie flat, wh...
Knitting: Beret, Tam, Scarf
This simple concept was born of my desire to drink while playing with some lovely thick and thin yarn I just had lying around. I had been toying around with the idea of making some kind of chunky lace thing with it…but lace requires sober concentration. That is, unless it’s drunken lace.
