Knitting: Cozy - Other
Many people carry bottled water with them and often put an inch of so of water in them which is put into the freezer. When ready for use, you can fill the rest of the bottle with water and have cold water all day long. Or you can place a new bottle in the freezer just until ice crystals start to form. A problem arises in that the cold water con...
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
This is a collection of three socks; Joan’s Socks, Joan’s Socks for Men and Basic DK weight sock. I’ve written these very step by step so are suitable for a beginning sock knitter as well as a more experienced knitter.
Knitting: Cardigan, Beanie, Toque, Baby Blanket
This set includes an afghan, hat and sweater with a pretty and easy arrowhead design. Sweater and Hat fits 3 to 6 months. Sample done in Plymouth Encore worsted.
Knitting: Drawstring Bag
Here is a bag knitted in the round, roomy enough to hold a sweater in progress and done in a riot of colors which look great together. Some colors in the original might be discontinued. Just pick your own combination.
Knitting: Towel
Two sizes of hand towels in a reversible basketweave pattern. Soaks up water well and won’t stretch out of shape. Easy beginner pattern.
Knitting: Washcloth / Dishcloth
I tend to make a distinction between dishcloths and facecloths. To my mind, the dishcloth is knit from heavier cotton and will withstand the abuse of dishwashing and appliance wiping in the kitchen. Facecloths, on the other hand, are made from finer cotton or cotton blends and have a more lacy appearance. Many people use them to give as gifts a...
Knitting: Throw
This afghan is good for beginners as it’s done in all knit/purl patterns. The afghan is knitted in strips so little sewing up is required. Every square is different and a chart will show you the sequence. The pattern includes written instructions for all the squares plus a chart denoting the sequence of the squares in the strips with the stitch...
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
In E. Zimmermann’s book “Knitting Around” mention was made of Intarsia I-Cord for Circular Knitting which was “unvented” by Kathy Lynch. It stated that you could make a hat using this technique but no actual pattern was given, so I gave it a try. It worked out beautifully. When knitting I-cord circularly, the yarn is left at the left side of th...
Knitting: Poncho
I wanted a poncho that had an easy stitch pattern and very simple shaping. The poncho is done in two rectangular pieces with the beginning and ending yarn tails making the self fringe. You may use any worsted weight yarn but make sure your gauge is correct as the triangle formed at the top determines the neck opening.
Knitting: Cardigan, Beanie, Toque
This is a very attractive and easy sweater and cap for a small baby. The sweater is started at the lower back with sleeves cast on as you go. It is knit all in one piece in stockinette stitch with lines of purl stitches on the right side for accent. It is suitable for either a boy or girl and easy enough for a beginning knitter.
Knitting: Cardigan
This sweater makes an easy and quick baby sweater for a baby 6 months to 1 year. The sweater is begun at the back, the sleeves are cast on as you go and the fronts worked separately. A simple mock cable stitch is worked on the fronts and is suitable for either a boy or girl. This pattern is suitable for beginning knitters.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
These hats were all made from one pattern, a rolled edge cap knitted in the round using any of the charts included in the pattern. 5 sts = 1” will make a 19” cap, 4.5 sts = 1” will make a 21” cap, 4 sts = 1” will make a 24” cap.
Knitting: Mittens
This pattern includes four patterns: Boat Oar Mitts made with two strands of worsted and one strand of mohair, Quick Mtts made with one strand of worsted and one strand of sport yarn, Gauntlet Mittens with a lacy gauntlet cuff and Two Needle Mittens for Kids made with one strand of worsted weight yarn in sizes 2, 4 and 6.
Knitting: Pullover
This is a totally seamless sweater starting at the collar and working down. The top is worked on a circular needle back and forth until the placket is joined, then worked the round. Sizes are 40”, 44”, 48” and 52” finished chest.
Knitting: Bib
This is a very simple small baby bib suitable for beginning knitters. This would go well with my baby sweater patterns to keep the fronts clean. There is a typo on Row 4. It should read the same as the other increase rows.
Knitting: Slippers
Cushy slipper sock with a double garter stitch sole which is replaceable. The sock is attached to the upper as you knit. Some basic single crochet is required to attach the sole to the upper. Sized for both men and women. Four colors are needed as pictured or in any color combination you prefer.
