I love knitted lace. It can be romantic or modern. It can even manage to be both at the same time. I also love knitting lace – there is such a seductive rhythm. I do not, however, love wearing shawls, the ubiquitous lace project-- hence this sweater, doing its best imitation of a shawl.

By taking bits of inspiration from styles as far flung as the late Victorian era and the mod 60s, this poncho manages to have a style all its own. And between the extra flare in the sleeves and the nip in at the waist, it is as flattering as it is unique.

This poncho feels so opulent and looks so stylish. And it is so easy to knit that the toughest thing is probably going to be finding the thicker mohair in this modern day of only laceweight mohair.
