Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
Small cables create a cozy fitting sock. Toe up construction with a mitered heel. Cables add a small enough detail to add interest without a complicated pattern. This is a great pattern for beginners of socks or cables.
Knitting: Baby Blanket
A soft and cozy baby blanket, worked flat with DK weight yarn. A seed stitch border helps to keep the blanket laying flat, while the stockinette stitch body works up quickly. Thin, gentle stripes are enough to add contrast, but colors can easily be swapped out for more contrast.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
Simply patterned socks with complimenting swirls in either direction. Swirls can be made to go in opposite ways or can be done for both socks to swirl in the same direction. Socks are knit toe-up. A mitered heel adds to the minimal design. Great pattern for beginners and the swirl pattern is easy enough to memorize.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
A simple cable hat, knit in the round, is great for cable beginners. The use of bulky yarn allows for the hat to be completed quickly and gives a soft and cozy texture. The high crown and blunt top makes for a good place for a pompom to be seated.
