I wrote and made these mittens for my friend, Denise who likes stormy greys and dark dark night shades with just a tiny pop of colour.

The pattern is written for Self Striping sock yarns, both hand dyed and mass produced.

These socks were inspired by a visit to a butterfly farm on the island of Noirmoutier in Vendee, France. It is the largest butterfly glass house in France and a home to over 700 butterflies of more than 100 species. The experience is unforgettable and the beauty of butterflies is inspiring. The socks have a snug fit. If preferred, adjust the needle size to 2.5mm if required to obtain a looser fit.
