Last year a friend was diagnosed with breast cancer and I knit lots of hats for her.

I first designed the Cancer Ribbon Hat for her. But as I watched her go through her chemo and radiation, I wanted to create something that echoed the way we were feeling at the time.

The result was this message to cancer that is “written” on the hat.

This design is created using a slipped stitch cabling technique. Only one colour is worked at a time and the cables seem to pop off of the hat.

My friend is now cancer free and enjoying life.

I was able to make 3 hats out of the 2 skeins of Miss Babs Woodbury yarn. It is also a great stashbuster.

This hat is designed as a chemo cap. Consider making it for someone you know or donating it your local chemo center. It is also fun to wear to a cancer fundraising event.
