Amanda Lane (Weir)
Designer, teacher, test knitter.
Sailor-mouthed art school grad with an engineer’s brain.
I’ve been drawing, designing, making since I can remember. Obsessed with figuring things out, making them go, mastering their complexities.
I’ve worked with metal, fabric, plastic, paper, yarn, raw fiber, you name it. Learned to knit as a kid, but didn’t really connect with it until after college. Since then I’ve become enthralled with the whole fiber world: knitting, spinning, dyeing, the whole nine yards.
I’ve been teaching since I was little too. I still remember giving a lesson on making paper dolls in elementary school. From there I moved on to various paid gigs in high school and college, now I regularly teach a variety of knitting techniques. Helping other people figure it out, whatever their “it” is, makes me feel like a rock star.
