I’m Angela Bolster, the designer behind The Pattern Scribe, where I create original mosaic overlay crochet patterns for makers who love bold, detailed and distinctive designs.

My collection has grown to include everything from wildlife and nature to fantasy, seasonal designs, statement blankets, story-inspired pieces and more. I love taking an idea and developing it into a design that becomes something truly special when worked in crochet.

Every Pattern Scribe design is created, charted and written by me. My patterns are written in clear English and include both a full chart and comprehensive written instructions, so you can choose the method that works best for you.

I believe buying a crochet pattern should come with the reassurance that there is a real designer behind it, so if you have a question about one of my patterns, support is available directly from me.

What you’ll find at The Pattern Scribe

My main focus is mosaic overlay crochet, with designs ranging from smaller projects to large statement and heirloom-style blankets.

There is always something new happening behind the scenes too. New designs are regularly being developed and tested, and my growing Storybook Alphabet Collection is currently underway, with each letter inspiring its own storybook-themed design.

I’m also exploring a complete A–Z collection of individual mosaic crochet blocks, which could eventually be combined into a wonderful ABC patchwork blanket.
