Beth Bell

Beth Bell

I grew up in rural Oregon where every woman I knew did handcrafts. Not as an art form or a hobby, but as a way to decorate their homes.
Mama always said that when things were bad, we could put the knots in our stomachs into our crochet.
I always said that any flat surface that was covered with handcraft did not need dusting as often.
We both agreed that using sugar water to stiffen crochet items drew ants.
By the time I was 10 years old, I knew how to knit, crochet, and embroider. I added weaving, hooking and tying rugs and many other crafts over the years.
I was lucky enough to take weaving lessons from Nancy Hoskins when we both worked for the same Community College. I fell in love and started collecting looms. All types and sizes. Especially vintage ones. Then I learned about rigid heddle looms and got two. I also collect lap looms.
Mama and I never saw a pattern, thread, or yarn that we didn’t love. I inherited all of her patterns when she died. I finally decided that it was time to preserve these for future generations. So I started my blog. I added the UK terms and updated the threads/yarns to use. As the blog progressed, I added other original patterns. All patterns posted there are free to use for both personal and business.
