Davishire Crafts
It all started one spring day in 2012 when I got beamed off the head with a diecast car. I thought, “Wouldn’t it be nice if all toys were soft-sculptured?”
Of course, the reality of that is ludicrous. However, my precocious little toddler at the time was just starting to learn what his arms (and whole body!) were capable of, and I didn’t want him throwing things hurting younger babies at our playgroups and new-mom groups in the process. I took out my hooks, which haven’t seen the light of day for years, and I scoured the web for ideas and patterns. Before I knew it, I had a whole stash of colorful playfood. And if it went airborne, we could count on it not hurting anyone.
Since I got my hooking hands back in order, I’ve been going crazy learning new techniques and gaining the knowledge capable of designing my own patterns.
It’s a learning experience everyday with lots of frogging and redoing, but I’m having the time of my life staying home with my son and creating beautiful gifts for my friends and family.
Located in Southern Rhode Island, a lot of my ideas come from my surroundings, interests, and fellow local mamas. I try to make products with supplies born in the USA and that are easy to care for. Most of my items are machine washable and dryable to make life easier.
Originally born and raised in Northern Rhode Island, I spent 15 years of my adult life working and living in and around Boston as an Office and Human Resource Manager for many small businesses. In 2009, I moved back to Rhode Island with my husband, and in 2010 we welcomed our beautiful baby boy.
Crafting, sewing, knitting, and crocheting have been apart of my entire life. I’m so glad that I have been able to incorporate my passions into (hopefully!) a career where I can continue to stay at home for my family.
I’m also a blogger, a very amateur photographer, mediocre housekeeper, and all around overwhelmed woman trying to make my way around motherhood and wifedom.
