My username is knitworkdesign and my website is knitworkdesignstudio.com
Knitwork Design Studio is where art meets math. My focus when planning a new design, has largely been construction style. I’m fascinated by shapes and how to make the materials conform to a specific shape. To that end, I’ve been testing out a variety of ways to make a rectangle or a reasonable facsimile of one. =)
I’m a new-ish knitter and a VERY new designer. I love learning and I’m constantly looking for a new things to learn. Right now, it’s all about learning new ways to promote my patterns and designs. I really dig it when someone I’ve never met makes one of my patterns. I love seeing the fiber choices you guys make and how you interpret my vision, and make it your own.
My first pattern was published in September of 2018. In my first year as a designer I’ve published or sold 14 original designs. I’m committed to offering designs that are interesting and innovative, while still being relatively accessible, fun and easy to read.
Since my day job as a network engineer means that I don’t get to knit and design full time, I’m trying to pace myself to add features and events for my friends and fellow knitters.
I’m still stumbling through the first steps to being a professional designer and I’m certain I’ll mis-step along the way. Please please please! If you find an error or I’ve misspoken, made a mistake, please contact me immediately so that I can fix it!
Things I’m hoping to add in the (near) future:
A blog on my website, www.knitworkdesignstudio.com/blog (Done!)
A Ravelry group - Knitwork Network (group is live now!) (Done!)
A KAL - I’d love to do a KAL, with one of my patterns
A MKAL - I definitely have to create a design, then figure out how to divvy it up over several weeks. But this seems like a fun challenge for me. (This concept is still floating around my brain)
