Frederica Patmore
Please call me Freddie. I’m a knitting and crochet designer and workshop tutor and have been working in the industry for over 18 years.
A total sock-knitting addict, I kicked off my knitting addiction making the Jean Greenhowe toys from as young as 6 or 7. My family were inundated with them when I was little.
Working for Rowan as one of their tutors, it was during that time that I co-authored Dorling Kindersley’s The Knitting Book, I designed 42 project patterns and many many more stitch patterns for readers to try. Most of them feature in DK’s other more recent knitting publications as my projects have hopefully stood the test of time.
I then moved on from Rowan Yarns to work for Woman’s Weekly magazine, where I then launched Love to Knit and Crochet magazine and an online shop website which later became The Knitting Network.
You’ll fine my name in the margins of various magazines these days designing patterns here and there but my real passion is and always has been, tuition. I now teach exclusively for Arena Travel and their Stitchtopia holidays, while producing tutorial projects and videos for other’s websites, including Prima’s.
