I am a mixed media artist, art therapist, and knitwear designer. I launched Black Bird Knits in 2014, but my history with the craft of knitting began much early in my life. When I was seven years old my friend’s mother taught me how to knit.
Using raw materials and simple tools to make things that are beautiful and functional has always intrigued me. Creating an object “one stitch at a time” is a powerful experience for me.
I am proud of the fact that I have taught hundreds of young people how to knit.
My Black Bird Knit designs are named after the streets of my city, Rochester, New York.
