I’ve been knitting since I was a teenager, at first off and on, and then with an obsessive fervor to which I’m sure the rest of you can relate. I have taught knitting to lots of different kinds of people, both casually and at fibre space in Alexandria, Virginia.

My husband and I lived in Oxford, England, for five years (and had two kids) while I was a doctoral student (my dissertation is about 18th century women’s poetry, particularly mock-heroic poems about domestic work). My only regret about the topic is that there aren’t more poems about knitting. Now, we live in Los Angeles, which is a bit of a shift.

My books Silver Screen Knits, Volumes One and Two celebrate the films and stars of classic Hollywood: Lauren Bacall, Audrey and Katharine Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, Marilyn Monroe, Gene Kelly, and many more.

A host of amazing designers have contributed to the books: Ann Weaver, Susanna IC, Tanis Gray, Veera Välimäki, Danielle Romanetti, Karida Collins, Becky Wolf, and little old me.
