Hey, who are you?
Hiya!
I’m Katie, the designer behind WSK. I’ve been a fiber artist since childhood when my grandmother, realizing that I had busy hands and a busier brain, introduced me to worsted weight yarn and a crochet hook. I took off chain-stitching and never looked back. I learned to knit in college and found a whole new world of sticks and loops to keep me entertained
When I’m not knitting, I sew my own clothes, drink a lot of coffee, and generally wander around looking for adventure. I live in Saint Paul, Minnesota with the small in stature but mighty in spirit, Abilene the poodle.
What’s a wandering star?
As an astronomer’s daughter, stars have always featured rather prominently in my life, but in this case, a wandering star is a planet – specifically Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. Ancient Greeks noticed that some “stars” in the night sky seemed to move differently relative to the stars around them. So these objects were called the Astra Planeta – the wandering stars.
