Manos del Uruguay is a group of Fair Trade artisan cooperatives located in Uruguay’s rural areas, with over 50 years’ experience of creating beautiful hand-dyed yarns. Here, talented artisans spin and dye the yarns and create stunning colourways, combining research and experimentation with traditional hand-dyeing techniques handed down through generations.

Manos del Uruguay artisans
Working in Manos’s rural-based cooperatives enables women to provide for their families and raise their children without having to emigrate to Montevideo’s poorer areas. They receive sustainable living wages, pensions, and a safe, creative working environment.

Every skein of Manos yarn comes with its own tag, with the name of the artisan and the cooperative where she created it.
