Melissa Metzbower
Hello! I’m Melissa, designer of That Metzbower Girl Designs. I’m from Berkeley Springs, WV, a cozy, little spa town. We’ve got George Washington’s bathtub, gorgeous mountains, 4-wheelers, homemade apple butter, and a total of 4 stoplights in our whole county!
I named my patterns after my maiden name of Metzbower. Growing up, I had so many siblings that I always was referred to as “one of those Metzbower girls, I don’t know her name, there’s too many to remember”. Plus, Metzbower is such an uncommon name that it’s almost always available as a username.
My grandmother taught me how to crochet when I was 10. My first finished object was a Barbie dress that had a big flare at the back. It was supposed to fit snug, but crochet and I don’t always see eye to eye. Fast forward to college days, and my friend had a magazine that said knitting was the “in” thing. I was intrigued, so the internet and I became friends as I learned how to knit, and find wonderful patterns to build my skill. These days, I design things that I need or want. I’m really practical that way! The sample usually doubles as a gift or garment for someone in my family. It’s a win-win!
