I dream of designing socks, and then walking around in them without stepping on crumbs.

Hi, I’m Michelle! I am a Christian, wife, and mom. I live with my family in northern Alberta. My husband and I have been married for 10 years (in June) and we have 4 kids - 2 boys and 2 girls. We homeschool and have a lot of fun together.

I love to drink coffee and knit colorful socks! My passion for sock knitting began when I was a teenager and I saw my aunt knitting colorful, geeky socks; and I vowed, “If I ever learn to knit, I going to do that.” While I didn’t learn to knit for another 7 years, once I started, the socks soon followed. I jumped right in with my first pair in a Sock Knitters Anonymous, Star Trek inspired, mystery sock KAL by Heidi Nick. And the rest is history!
(Current sock count is 28 for me, 6 for my husband, 5 for other gifts, 5 for kids, 2 crochet, and 10 WIPs…)

I’ve dabbled in a few other fibre arts, such as crochet, spinning, blackwork cross stitch, and sewing. Some of my non-fibre hobbies include reading, personal fitness, and reorganizing things I’m supposed to be decluttering. I like trying new things but I always come back to knitting and reading.

While my vision is to design fresh, fun, fandom-inspired socks and other knitwear, my reality looks a lot more like trying to keep up with homeschooling and laundry. I’m working hard to balance my family’s needs with my creative needs…while also weeding out the excuses that slow down my designing efforts. I also dream of designing socks inspired by my faith, but my needles just can’t keep up with my ideas!

I am in the process of standardizing my patterns so that they include both fully written and charted instructions as applicable, as well as including a separate low vision accessible pdf.

I was also the host of the Slow Pace Knitting Space - a video podcast where I talked about things I was knitting, ideas I had for designing, and the process of figuring out how all of that fit into different seasons of life. Unfortunately, I had to put it on hiatus because I was burning out. You can find my channel on Rumble and Youtube.
