Nota Bene Knits

Nota Bene Knits

About ‘Nota Bene’— Often abbreviated as NB or n.b., the phrase is Latin for “note well” and comes from the Latin roots notāre (“to note”) and bene (“well”). My patterns contain a sidebar of helpful notes marked n.b.— tips, suggestions, links to helpful resources, and ideas for adapting the pattern to your particular vision.

I have been knitting and designing for myself and for friends and family for over ten years. The process of making is, for me, creative, life-giving, reflective, and joyful. I love working with color, with texture, with intriguing fibers, and I also love experimenting and trying new techniques and continuing to learn.

As part of my commitment to justice and to respecting the dignity of every human being, 25% of all pattern sales, every month, are designated to an organization doing this work in their community.

Peace, love and yarn,
Jen

= January’s Organization =
25% all pattern sales this month will be contributed to Racial Equity Tools. RET “is designed to support individuals and groups working to achieve racial equity. It offers tools, research, tips, curricula, and ideas for people who want to increase their understanding and to help those working for racial justice at every level – in systems, organizations, communities, and the culture at large. We curate resources that use language and analysis reflecting an understanding of systemic racism, power, and privilege and are accessible on-line and free to users.”

= December’s Organization =
25% all pattern sales this month will be contributed to RAICES, a non-profit organization that works to defend the rights of immigrants and refugees, empower individuals, families, and communities, and advocate for liberty and justice.

= In Perpetuity =
100% sales of the Echidna Love Mittens (in perpetuity) will be contributed to WIRES, the NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service Inc., Australia’s largest wildlife rescue organization. The situation for wildlife is devastating. Surviving animals are facing dire food and water shortages and loss of habitat. WIRES is rescuing and caring for as many sick, injured and orphaned native animals as possible.
