Rachel Field
Hello! Thank you for being here!
I’m Rachel.
I’d like to tell you how when I was a small child my dear grandmother taught me crochet, on a cool Autumn day in front of a log fire, and I treasure those moments with her. That’s not what happened.
One day in early 2021, at the beginning of what I now think of as my midlife crisis, I found myself on TikTok.
My favorite TikToks were people recreating Harry Styles’ cardigan in crochet.
I’m not a fan of Harry Styles.
I didn’t especially like the cardigan.
I was a knitter. I did not like crochet.
I was at least two decades too old to be on TikTok.
I decided I was going to make a granny square sweater but I was only going to use cheap acrylic yarn from my stash.
Pretty soon I was hooked (pun intended) and I’ve been crocheting constantly ever since.
I still haven’t made the Harry Styles cardigan.
I am, however, busy designing faux historical and whimsical garments.
