I’m a literature nerd who ended up in art school, where I was supposed to be doing photography but got so addicted to knitting that I ended up using it for my artwork. I tried to kick the habit for a while when I went to grad school to get a PhD in literature, but it’s come back in a big way. Now I’ve co-founded an organization called Ricefield Collective that uses knitting to generate income for indigenous people in the Philippines in danger of abandoning their ancestral land due to poverty.
