Ruth Stewart
I have rarely encountered a textile pursuit I didn’t want to try - I knit constantly, crochet occasionally, quilted previously (and hopefully again someday), sew far less than I would like, and am presently hooked on weaving, not to mention my hand dyed yarn business.
My motto is “what would happen if?” That curiousity led me to jewellery making 4 years ago, and I now knit, crochet and weave silver, in addition to the more traditional forging and fabricating, and am experimenting with mixing fibre and metal.
I adore colour, and find macro nature photography to be a marvelous exercise in mindfulness, as well as a source of creative inspiration. Blogging keeps me grounded, and provides an outlet for the writing impulse, as well as connecting me to a wonderful community of knitters.
I feel enormously privileged to be able to focus on creative pursuits full time - I sell my jewellery, shawl pins, hand dyed yarns and notecards online at Impulse of Delight and at a growing number of shows and galleries here in Whistler.
