Taryn Nikolic
My passion for knitting and art began at a young age as I eagerly watched the other women in my family knit, sew, paint, and bake. By the age of five I was learning to knit washcloths and make doll clothes. My desire for art has only grown as my skills have developed. I modify patterns or create my own for knitting.
After years of knitting, I have decided to share my passion for knitting and art with others.
I enjoy knitting in various fibers and styles. My primary love is colorwork and multi-strand knitting. My inspiration comes from my Scandinavian heritage and my husband’s Serbian heritage.
I want to give women a feminine and sensual look, compelling them to embrace their handcrafted knitwear. My hope for menswear is to evoke a naturalistic and masculine look, portraying that of a rugged Pacific Northwesterner. With accessories, I like to derive vintage design and patterns from the 1940’s.
I have been developing my artistry since 1990, when I first learned to knit and sew. From then, not only have I grown as a craftsman, but as a creative designer, working to alter patterns and develop products for specific body types and styles.
