A simple and seamless convertible dress/cowl/cape.

雷雨 - Raiu (rai-yoo) is Japanese noun for “Thunderstorm”.

Level: Advance Beginner

Sizes: 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 50, 52 inches (to fit bust sizes)

Yarn substitutes: A very light DK mohair yarn will be suitable. 2 strands of laceweight mohair yarn held together works as well. Some possible substitutes includes Rowan Kidsilk Haze, Rowan Kidsilk Night (discontinued), Patons Lace Sequin, S. Charles Luna, Elann Silken Kydd and KnitPicks Aloft.

A heavy-fingering, or sport, weight woolen (blend) yarn such as DROPS Alpaca, Rowan Felted Tweed DK and Berroco Ultra Alpaca Light will create a less mesh-like fabric.

Preferably with beads/sequins/sparkles in the yarn, but fine without as well.

For the ombre effect you will need equal amounts of similar coloured yarn (one darker and one slightly lighter).

Techniques Involved: Knitting in the round, KFB, K2T

Updates: 15th May 2012 - adjustment to armhole size for size 34 and sizes 38-52.
