The Lin socks are worked from the toe up with a round heel construction. German short-rows are used for the heel turn, followed by a classic slipped stitch heel. Two tree motifs on the top of the socks are constructed using twisted stitch cables, and two wavy lines with 1-by-1 cables surrounds the tree motifs to give an extra decoration. The heel, toe and top cuff are made with earthy colours to symbolize the soil for the trees.

STORY
“Lin (林)” means “forest” or “woods” in Chinese and this character is constructed by two “木“s, which means “tree” and looks like a tree. Pretty cool isn’t it? After I designed the Xiaohe Socks which is named after me, I decided to design a pair of socks that is named after my husband, 林. This character is a perfect inspiration and I used cables to mimic its features.

林麻花袜由袜头开始编织，采用德式引返（German Short Row)方法编织出圆形的袜跟， 再由滑针图案进行修饰。脚背上由两棵生命树花型组成“林”字，再用两组1x1麻花来修饰边缘。主体部分用绿色编织，突出了树林的主体；脚尖、脚跟和脚踝处用棕色编织，用土壤的颜色来呼应主色。

“林”由两个“木”字组成，而“木”又像极了一颗树。汉语的象形文字很有趣呢！在我设计了以自己名字命名的“小禾”袜子之后，现在又来设计一款以我伴侣的名字“林”来命名的毛袜~
