MATERIALS AND TOOLS
- any smooth yarn which is not very stretchy. Cotton or microfiber yarn is perfect for this project. I use Alize Diva (100% microfiber yarn, 350 m/100 g). This is wonderful yarn with rich color range. It feels like silk. Toys made with this yarn keep shape perfectly. The main color I use is grass green color (210) and blue color (376). You will need approx. 1/3 of skein of each color.
You will also need Cotton Embroidery floss or Iris yarn or any other cotton yarn to make eyes, spots and to embroider the shape. I use Vita Pelican yarn (100% mercerized cotton, 330 m/50 g) of the following colors: black (3952), light blue (3999) and white (3951).
To make thorns I use Czech Pressed Glass Beads Spike Jet Opalique Rainbow 5x13 mm (BPSP23980R_5x13). You can use any other beads you like. I used 16 beads to make 16 thorns.
- Stuffing polyester.
- 1.0-1.5 mm copper wire - approx. 2 m. You can buy this wire in a craft shop, but I suggest buying it in an electronic goods store. There you can buy a 31.5 cord. Before buying the cord, make sure that the wire inside it is whole and does not consist of several thin wires. With a paper knife, remove the insulation. The cable inside consists of three copper wire cords, so having bought just a meter of cord you will have three meters of copper wire.
- White fabric plaster or insulation tape.
- Toy eyes or beads or semi beads to make eyes. You will need two items. The size of eyes is 10 mm; they can be bigger, or smaller depending on the eye sockets.
- Transparent glue (if you want to glue on the eyes instead of sewing them on).
TOOLS:
- 1.75 mm and 1.0 mm crochet hook. Attention: choose the size of the hooks according to the yarn you use and/or your manner to crochet.
- wire cutter
- scissors
- sewing needle
