TRADITIONAL AND BEUTIFUL

- A traditional Aran afghan in a non-traditional color
- The Aran style blanket is worked in three panels making it portable
- The center panel is outstanding with large bobbles and open work
- The two side panels are identical, with two cables and the bramble stitch.

TECHNIQUES USED IN THIS DESIGN
Links to videos for selected techniques are included. I look for videos as close as possible to the instructions I have written. Sometimes they may be slightly different but still very helpful.

- Slip, knit, passover (SKP)
- Make a bobble

FINISHED SIZE
48 inches-(122 cm) wide x 60 inches-(152.5 cm) long
YARN USED FOR SAMPLE
- Muench/GGH Yarns—Samoa
- 50% cotton—50% acrylic
- 1.75 ounces-(50 grams)
- 104 yards-(95 meters) each
- 22 balls – 2255 yards-(2062 m)
This afghan can be made with any yarn in the weight specified as long as the correct gauge can be obtained. It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.
SUGGESTED NEEDLE SIZE
- size 10-(6mm) or size needles to obtain the correct gauge
size J-(6mm) crochet hook to pull fringes through afghan
- cable needle
NOTIONS
- Gauge ruler
- Tracking sheet – included with pattern
- Ring markers
- Yarn markers-a thin cotton yarn (#10 crochet thread is great to use as yarn markers) in a contrasting color tapestry needle
- Tapestry needle
GAUGE
- 16 stitches x 24 rows = 4 inches-(10 cm) in stockinette stitch on size 10-(6mm) needles or needle to obtain the correct gauge
