Materials and tools
• Any red, pink, bright green and a little bit of brown yarn you like for main parts. I used VITA cotton ‘Coco’ (100% mercerized cotton ≈ 240 m ≈50 g).
• Some white fuzzy yarn for finishing sleeves, cap and hem of the coat. I used ALPINA Baby (53% polyester, 47% bamboo, ≈ 210 m ≈ 50 g).
• Leftovers of fuzzy yarn for the beard. I used NAZAR ‘Swan’s Down’ (100% polyamide ≈ 170 m ≈ 100 g).
• Steel hooks. I use – 1 mm (US steel hook – 12; UK Steel hook – 6.5) for main yarn, 1,5 mm (US steel hook – 8; UK Steel hook – 4.5) for fuzzy yarn and 3,5 mm (US steel hook – 00; UK Steel hook – No) for the beard.
• Any stuffing.
• Copper wire covered with plastic (you have to be able to bend it with hands, but it has to keep the shape). Amount depends of your yarn (I used a bit more than 90 cm of wire ø 3 mm).
• Plaster - adhesive-backed fabric tape 1-1.5 cm wide to work up the wire cuts (the tape you use to cover wounds (first aid)) and to join wire frame.
• 2 plastic eyes 0,7 cm diameter
• Glue for eyes
• Leftovers of black yarn for embroidery. I used Iris.
• 2 green buttons 1.2 mm diameter
• White sewing thread to sew the beard
• Sewing needle, tapestry needle
• Wooden stick to stuff tight places
• Beads of different color for decorating the Christmas tree
Finished size:
Finished size approx. 38 cm (15 inches) high.
