The 44 sts line should read: (bold indicates correction)

(K2, M1) twice, (p8, k8) twice, (m1 p-st, p2) twice - 44 sts

The 48 sts line should read: (bold indicates correction)

(K2, M1) twice, k2, (p8, k8) twice, M1 p-st, p2, M1 p-st, p4 - 48 sts.
