1-Hour Kitchen Soap Mat
I had been using store-bought dish cloths folded in half in two places in my kitchen when it dawned on me: I’m a knitter and could totally make something better! I whipped two of these up in an evening, and now my kitchen looks more tidy and put together! I used one by my kitchen sink to set my drain plug, hand soap, and dish soap on, and the other I used by my stove for my salt shaker, pepper grinder, and favorite seasoning. I could also see this being really useful in the bathroom to catch jewelry and watches, as a place to set makeup brushes, or a nice spot for a beard trimmer.
This little half dishcloth is as simple as it gets, and knits up mighty quick. A perfect beginner pattern with a long tail cast on, and garter stitch. Any cotton yarn will do, but my favorite is KnitPick’s Dishie because they have so many color choices. I made mine in Honeydew, which is a lovely light pastel green.
