Beginning at the lower edge, a long strip is worked, encompassing the lower four-stitch cable, the mini cable inside the diamond pattern, and a background of reverse stockinette. Stitches are picked up along this strip and knit in the round in a larger version of the diamond cable. Decreases form a narrower opening at the top. An I-cord bind off finishes the edge.
