#10 Granny Square Top
Pattern description from Knit Simple Magazine, Fall 2006:
“There’s no shaping involved in this ingenious sweater: Merely assemble a mass of individually looped granny squares, chainstitch a drawstring tie, add a ruffle to the sleeves - and you’re off.”
Tip: “Create a boxy scallop by leaving the sides of the final row of blocks unsewn.”
Materials:
- Silk & Merino DK by Cherry Tree Hill, 4oz/113g hanks, each approx 313yd/286m (silk/wool)
- 5 (5, 6, 7) skeins in spanish moss
- Size D/3 (E/4, F/5, G/6)/3.25 (3.5, 3.75, 4)mm crochet hook or size to obtain gauge
Sizes:
- Small (Medium, Large, X-Large)
- Bust 37½ (40, 42½, 45)“/95 (101.5, 108, 114.5) cm
- Length 18¾ (20, 21¼, 22½)“/47.5 (50.5, 54, 57) cm
- Upper arm 22½ (24, 25½, 27)“/57 (61, 64.5, 68.5) cm
Note: Top is sized by using different crochet hook sizes.
Gauge:
- Small: One motif to 3.75”/9.5 cm square using size D/3 (3.25 mm) crochet hook.
- Medium: One motif to 4”/10 cm square using size E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook.
- Large: One motif to 4.25”/10.5 cm square using size F/5 (3.75 mm) crochet hook.
- X-Large: One motif to 4.5”/11.5 cm square using size G/6 (4 mm) crochet hook.
