The modular squares of Yu’s belt are worked in garter stitch, with the first half beginning at the center square. Each two subsequent squares are made smaller, with a triangle at the end. The second half is a mirror image. Two I-cord ties are worked from the point of the final triangle at each end. The tightly spun, elastic merino of Koigu’s Kersti Merino Crepe is hand-painted, creating a lovely echo of traditional kimono embellishment.
