Pattern description from Vogue Knitting Fall 2008: “Svetlana Avrakh know how to deal with the cold stylishly, having been born in Latvia and emigrating to Canada in 1994 (shortly afterward beginning her tenure as a designer for the Spinrite companies Patons and Bernat). ‘I like to design and knit both Fair Isle and cables, so I decided to compromises and combine my favorite techniques,’ says the designer, whose background in architecture and arts surely informs her ‘Nordic Tradition’ tunic’s sculptural A-line shaping, sublime stranded circular yoke and mock turtleneck. Of her chosen yarn, Patons’ soy-blend ‘SWS,’ Avrakh says, ‘Winters in Canada are cold, and natural fibers help keep the body warm. ‘SWS’ offers the warmth of natural fibers, the silkiness of soy and the coziness of wool - it just embodies my love of yarn.’”
