#10 Ribbed Bolero
Pattern description from Vogue Knitting, Spring/Summer 2008: “Top of the crop in Kollage Yarns’ corn-fiber ‘Cornucopia,’ Mari Lynn Patrick’s cardi boasts a unique bodice made in two pieces - a long, scarflike rectangle with shoulder shaping, and a back with a fitted waistband. The collar is picked up at the same 3x2 ribbing as the body.”
“Very close-fitting bolero in allover rib pattern with fitted back waistband, wrap around shoulder construction and deep collar. Stretches to fit sizes Small, Medium, Large, 1X, 2X and shown in size Small on page 66.”
Knitted Measurements:
- Small (Medium, Large, 1X, 2X)
- Bust (closed) 29 (31, 33, 39, 41)“/73.5 (78.5, 84, 99, 104)cm
- Armhole opening 12¼ (13¼, 14¼, 16¼, 17¾)“/31 (33.5, 36, 41, 45)cm
Materials:
- 9 (10, 11, 13, 14) 1.2oz/34g hanks (each approx 100yd/91m) of Kolláge Yarns Cornucopia (corn) in brown
- 1 pair each sizes 5 and 6 (3.75 and 4mm) needles or size to obtain gauge
- Yarn markers in different colors
- Two 1-3/8”/40mm buttons
Notes:
- Garment is made in 2 pieces with the collar picked up and added in the finishing. The first piece is the back waistband. The second piece is the body which begins at the lower left front and continues around to wrap the shoulders and finish at the lower right front. The finished measurements reflect the garment after it has been sewn together, and will differ slightly from the calculated gauge.
- For shoulder shaping, use the shaped bind-off and cast-on method, that is slip the last st on the row preceding the bind off or cast on. The for first st to be bound off, sl the first st over the 2nd st, then bind off as usual and work cast-on as usual.
- Due to the nature of the rib, finished measurements are smaller than bust measurements and wil stretch to fit the sizes given.
