10-Spoke Ruffled Doily
14-inch diam. 10-spoke doily with ruffled edge.
My grandmother made two peach-colored doilies like this one and gave them to my parents as a gift around 1956. They were given a place of honor in our living room, displayed under lamps on varnished wood end-tables.
As a young child, I found these doilies fascinating. The ruffled edge seems to intensify the color of the thread, with its play of light against shadow.
Any color of thread can be used. If a heavier thread or larger crochet hook is used, the resulting doily will be of a larger size.
The stitches used in this doily are basic crochet stitches - primarily triple crochet and chain stitch. I have classed the level of difficulty as “Basic.”
