1:12th Scale Knight's Coif
A chainmail coif for St George’s Day.
Notes: The coif was still worn into the 14th Century, but was being replaced slowly by plate armour on the neck of large helmets.
A leather helmet would often be worn under the coif to prevent chafing, but this is not practical in 1:12th scale. Originally of course chainmail would have been made of metal links, but knitted chainmail is quite effective in this scale.
Materials required: One pair of size 16 (1.5 mm, US size 3/0) knitting needles, 28 yards/25 metres 1-ply cotton yarn (wool or acrylic will not give the same effect)
To fit a 5½ to 6-inch/14-15 cm tall dolls house doll
Gauge is not important as dolls house dolls vary in size.
