Instructions for you to knit this boy’s waistcoat or cardigan. The pattern starts from premature sizes and goes through to 3 months of age. It is suitable for either babies or reborn dolls. Within the pattern, there is a choice of either no sleeves, short sleeves or long sleeves. This makes it ideal for any season.
This round-neck waistcoat or cardigan features a textured stitch pattern throughout and fastens with 6 buttons.
To make any of the items from this boy’s waistcoat or cardigan knitting pattern you will need the following materials:
15-16” or 37.5-40cm Height (Approx 2.5-4lb Prem) Size
100g 4ply yarn, 6 buttons and 1 stitch holder. You will also need 1 x pr 2.75mm needles to make a tension of 30sts and 38 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
16-17” or 40-42.5cm Height (Approx 3-5lb Prem) Size
100g 4ply yarn, 6 buttons and 1 stitch holder. You will also need 1 x pr 3.25mm needles to make a tension of 28sts and 36 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
18-19” or 45-47.5cm Height (Approx 5-7lb Newborn) Size
100g 4ply yarn, 6 buttons and 1 stitch holder. You will also need 1 x pr 3.75mm needles. OR use dk yarn and 3.25mm needles to make a tension of 26sts and 34 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
20-21” or 50-52.5cm Height (Approx 8-10lb Newborn) Size
100g dk yarn, 6 buttons and 1 stitch holder. You will also need 1 x pr 3.75mm needles to make a tension of 24sts and 30 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
22” or 55cm Height (0-3 Months) Size
100g dk yarn, 6 buttons and 1 stitch holder. You will also need 1x pr 4mm needles to make a tension of 22sts and 30 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
