1600s Monmouth Cap
Pattern description from Knitting America: “In 1979, Kirstie Buckland published her observations of the Monmouth cap from the Monmouth Local History collection in Costume: The Journal of the Costume Society. According to Buckland, this cap was ‘believed to be a genuine specimen and the only survivor.’”
No Yarn, needle size, yardage or sizes given in this pattern. This pattern is really a description of knitted article, not a reprinting of a published pattern. One could probably recreate the hat based on her finely detailed description, however.
This pattern may be found in the book Knitting America by Susan M. Strawn, published by Voyager Press in 2007 on page 12.
