This is a mermaid tail for an American girl doll. It can be done in any 4 worsted weight yarn and takes usually less then a skein for both the body and tail, I just did it in two different colors.

It is a fairly simple pattern but being knowledgeable with the basic stitches and the different cast ons and cast offs will be helpful. There are videos out there that can help with seeing how they are done. This pattern has not been tested yet and once it has I will update this saying so.
