#184 Chunky Crochet Booties
Errata (fixed 12/27/13) Page 3, Rnd 1 for Sizes S and M ONLY: 3 hdc in 3rd ch from hook (not 2nd ch).
These chunky baby booties will earn you more minutes of oohs and aahs than it took you to crochet them!
Like your favorite boots, these have a classic pull-on shape that is easily embellished with a crochet bobble tie, flower, edging, ribbon, or just left as is!
They are crocheted from the bottom up, so the boot shaft length is entirely up to you and how much yarn you have. The pattern as written allows enough length that the little cutie wearing them is less likely to wiggle them off.
Make them longer and fold them down to create a cute cuffed look. Make them shorter and they look more like “slip on” shoes. Use different colors for the shaft too – a great idea if the parents of the little one have fave college colors!
This is a pattern with infinite possibilities, but all up there on the cute meter! And if that was not enough, I’ve included the American Girl Doll size. BTW – the Size S or M fit Build-a-Bear dolls just right too (depending on how stuffed the feet are)!
Combine this with my #67 Basketweave Crochet Hat pattern (shown top right), and you’ll have THE perfect baby gift set!
Gauge: Approx 7 sc = 3” 7.5 cm and 11 rounds = 4” 10cm in sc
