This is an 1892 Victorian Miser’s Purse or coin purse. During the victorian era, knit or crocheted purses were very popular to hold coins.

In this pattern, two purse designs were combined to create a beautifully beaded product. The original designs come from The Art of Knitting, published by the Butterick Publishing Company.

The original patterns can be found here.

A video about knitting this pattern can be found here.

The original patterns can be followed without purchasing this pattern at all! The benefit of purchasing this pattern is that I’ve both written out row by row instructions and charted the lace to make it easier to follow. I’ve also written down how I created the beaded embellishments, to hopefully make it easier to recreate.
