This pattern reminds me of stained glass windows! It’s from ca. 1892 Weldon’s Practical Needlework, vol. 5, p.10, and has a 12-stitch, 28-row repeat. All 28 rows are “fancy” rows and the last repeat of nearly every row is different than the other repeats in the row, so this is truly an intermediate-level pattern. This strip could be mixed with other simpler strips in an afghan but feel free to use the pattern anyway you like! There’s a few “p2tog through back loop” but there’s an easy way to work it that’s explained in the notes. Stretch this pattern hard while blocking to get the eyelets to show.
The 2-repeat swatch is 4.75 inches wide at gauge. It took me about an hour to knit 2 inches of a 37-stitch-wide swatch.

Skills needed: cast on, slip, knit, purl, YO, SSK, SK2P, k2tog, p2tog, p2tog tbl (see note) and bind off in knit stitch.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.

78 yards of #10 crochet thread will make about 10 inches of a 37-stitch-wide strip in the stated gauge.
