This cowl is a fantastic design for showing off multi-coloured yarn due to the stitch pattern. The little cable stitches create an effective textural pattern that is easy to create making this a quick knit. The slipped stitches provide pops of cream, grey and aqua throughout the body of the cowl. These three colours remind me of an icebox that was commonly found in the 1950’s and this inspired the name for the design.

There are two ways to make the little cable stitches found in the body of the cowl and both ways have been explained in the abbreviations. Using the cable needle allows a knitter to follow the traditional way of creating cable stitches while using the alternative option without a cable needle creates a quicker knit.

Note:
To address the issue some knitters have had with the cowl rolling in on itself, if you follow the instructions in the finishing section of the pattern it will not roll.
