I suggested one skein of each color per hat, which comes to 262 yards, but if you are using stash yarn, a single hat will take less than that. I completed the two hats shown with about 1.5 skeins of the main color, and just a few feet over 1 skein of the contrast color.

You may notice that the Herringbone Hat carries the pattern all the way to the top. I did not include directions for doing this because it just got complicated, and I wasn’t completely satisfied with the way it looked.
