Solomon knot uses less yarn to cover as much area as the more typical crochet stitches, so it can really stretch those smaller amounts. It’s also great for variegated and color-changing yarn because it helps to spread those colors and use them to good effect, imho. Chunky and really fluffy yarn can really benefit from Solomon knots because the open stitches make it really easy to see where that hook needs to go, and the drape from Solomon knot makes even the densest yarns feel supple. You might have guessed by now, but I really like this stitch! :laughing:

There are two Solomon knot scarf/shawl patterns here: one is a side-to-side asymmetric triangle that has an easily memorized repeat that can be carried on for as long as you like to get the size scarf/shawl you want.

The other pattern is another easily memorized repeat to create a Solomon knot rectangle scarf/shawl that can be made to be as thin as a necklace-scarf or as wide and long as a comfy shawl.

Materials:
Pick a yarn, any yarn

Pick a hook that feels good with your yarn. I recommend a smaller hook than you would normally use-- you want those single crochet stitches that close the Solomon knot to be secure. You won’t lose any drape because of all the air those puffy Solomon stitches give the piece.

Scissors and needle for weaving in ends, of course.
