#20 Ribbed Pullover
From pattern description:
“Standard-fitting pullover in textured ribs with set-in sleeves and mock turtleneck.”
From the designer:
On my blog, I give some hints on making the sweater. http://www.leighwitchel.com/blog/archives/2007/01/tips_fo...
Dark confession: The sweater model shown was not knit with the recommended yarn but with Karabella Aurora Bulky. It’s obvious if you look at my blog, as with permission from Vogue I blogged about the making of the sweater from its conception.
Use a cabled yarn to make this, such as Aurora or Filatura di Crosa Zara - or anything with crisp stitch definition. The sweater is also relatively simple to resize. If I were to make it again, I would consider using a worsted rather than a bulky weight yarn for a better silhouette and adjusting the pattern gauge accordingly.
August 2011 - another tip: this pattern was specifically designed to be knit flat in pieces, not in the round. Of course it can be knit in the round, but you lose a lot of the advantages inherent in the design: the simplicity of the wrong side (it’s k2p2 for the entire pattern no matter what the front is) and the fit and stability of the seams, particularly if you’re knitting in bulky yarn.
