2073 Flower Stitch
The flower stitch creates an airy openwork lace.
Feel free to use any type of yarn (or even thread) for your project. Most yarns have the recommended crochet hook size on the label.
This pattern results in lacy field of offset four-petal flowers. They line up diagonally. Petals are made using puff stitch and connected mostly by chain stitches. The directions are written for working flat, but the design can be worked in the round without much fuss or noticeably extra stitches at each round end/beginning.
Easy to follow steps are written, illustrated with clear close-up photos, and supplemented with a chart (via link).
The site, MYpicot, has many free stitch patterns. All are presented in a very clear format, giving UK and US terms at the same time and in that order. The terms are listed at the top of the pattern list, for example, double crochet/single crochet – dc/sc; and in the pattern instructions, for example, 1 dc/sc. It’s just like reading a pattern where stitch counts are given for multiple sizes and you choose the entry that corresponds to a given size, except you’re reading either the left or right side for the UK/US stitch equivalent.
