What has 21 Eyes and 6 faces? Do you know the riddle? If you don’t know the answer scroll to the bottom. My shawl has 21 Eyes but not 6 faces. The riddle got stuck in my head and I was inspired to design this shawl.

The shawl is worked sideways and includes a lace pattern with beads to resemble the shape of eyes. The shawl pattern is great to show off this one skein of handpainted yarn, like Crochet the Winter Hunter’s Silky Single shown in colorway Fiery Oceana. The silky texture provides great drape and shiny reflection.

Another great choice is Knit Picks Preciosa, fingering weight. Here shown in colorway Pokeberry.

In addition to needles and approx 440 yds of fingering weight yarn, you will need 3 stitch markers, tapestry needle for weaving in ends, crochet hook size 12 (1 mm) for beads, approx. 50 glass seed beads, size 6/0 by Dyna-mites, color Gunmetal, blocking pins and blocking mat for wet blocking.

This pattern is great for the seasoned beginner.

Skills needed: decreases, increases, simple lace and knitting with beads. The short rows are simple and don’t require special techniques. The pattern includes row by row written directions, charts and schematics.

The pattern has been test knitted by amaiku, Isabella-Elena and mrsahunter86. Please check out their beautiful shawls. The pattern has been professionally tech edited by Tabitha’s Heart. Please check out her beautiful knitting designs too.

And, the answer is a dice!
