Pattern Description from Vogue Knitting, Winter 2009/10: “For this shawl-collared beauty, in Plymouth Yarn’s ‘Ashton,’ Paden employs a lcas-and-cable pattern on the main body and a simpler eyelet scheme on the collar, flounced peplum and sleeve cuffs. the front closes low on the waist with a yarn-covered belt buckle and knitted tabs.”

  • 17 (20) 1¾oz/50g hanks (each approx 122yd/112m) of Plymouth Yarns, Ashton (alpaca/wool/silk) in #9210 pale pink
  • One pair each sizes 4, 5, 6 and 7 (3.5, 3.75, 4 and 4.5mm) needles OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
  • One size 5 (3.75mm) circular needle 40”/100cm long
  • Two size 6 (4mm) circular needles 40”/100cm long
  • One size 3 (3.25mm) circular needle 40”/100cm long
  • Cable needle
  • Size E (3.5mm) crochet hook
  • Square belt buckle 2¼“/5.5cm wide x 1¼”/3cm deep
  • Stitch holders, stitch markers, scrap yarn

OVER CABLES & LEAVES CHART

  • 26 sts and 32 rows = 4”/10cm using size 5 (3.75mm) needles

Notes:

  1. K first and last st of every row for selvage st.

  3. Waist and sleeve shaping is worked by changing needle sizes.
  4. Body ruffles are worked separately, then steam blocked, assembled and sewn to the lower edge of the body.
